While I’m posting these on Facebook…

I may as well post these pictures to the blog as well! Trying to be less lazy about it.

This morning was really fun! Kedric came over, and all the kids decorated graham cracker houses. We had a bunch of different kinds of candy, and I had put the houses together yesterday so they didn’t have to try to do that. (Always frustrating when you’re a kid…the decorating is the best part!)

A few things I learned this year:
1. Melt sugar in a disposable pie plate and stick the edges of the graham crackers into the scalding, lava-hot liquid. Stick edges together, and the sugar dries instantly, making a bond that won’t break unless you break the crackers! (And did I mention it will melt your skin? That’s why I did it…not the kids!) Works like magic!

2. When decorating, apply frosting first and let it sit for a few minutes before sticking stuff on. It allows the frosting to start to dry and be tacky, and the candy won’t run off of the roof. :) We learned after some trial and error to do it this way, and it works great! (Frosting: 6 egg whites, 1 bag powdered sugar, 2 tsp. cream of tartar: beat. Dries stiff!! It’s perfect!)

The kids did a fantastic job and really used their imaginations. What a fun morning!
Awesome, Max!!Great job, Sam!Excellent, Kedric (and love the BSU cast, BTW!)

That looks like a lot of fun! We never do gingerbread houses because they are so frustrating. Maybe I’ll try the melted sugar next year!

You’re such a good mom to make such fun memories with your kids! They’ll remember those houses for the rest of their lives! Way to go, fun mom!
